Knowledge Scholarship Recipient For Berlin Conference

sarahcorbittWe are delighted to announce that Sarah Corbitt, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP BD+C, from Charleston, South Carolina will be joining us as the COD Scholar at our fall conference in Berlin, Germany, September 21-28. You may recall she was selected to travel with us last year to Spain but illness prevented her from attending.

Sarah Corbitt received a Master of Architecture from North Carolina State University in 2009 and a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies, UNC-Chapel Hill.  She is an Architectural Intern with LS3P Associates Inc. in their Charleston, South Carolina office.  Currently, she is working on several hospital renovation projects for LS3P, as well as a university science building. She is also working on a LEED certification for an office building, and a Green Globes certification for an office upfit. She has experience blogging – sarahcorbitt.com/blog, as well as a new blog that’s under construction.  Sarah also has a background in video production including work for the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University, and writing and producing short feature stories for a PBS affiliate in North Carolina.  We are excited to have her join us and look forward to her sharing her observations.

The COD Travel Scholarship provides all travel expenses and registration to the conference and add-on activities. In exchange, the Scholar will provide COD with written and illustrated reports on projects that will be used on the COD website and social media.

The goal of this scholarship is to introduce an architect to the Committee on Design and ask them to communicate the value of COD to other architects, especially emerging professionals. We looked for an individual who is passionate about practicing architecture and who will have an ability to communicate what she learns at the conference to a wider audience.
